Two national
records have already been broken during the Junior National
Tenpin Bowling Championships now underway. It is the first
time the Championship has been held in the Illawarra region
and entries have been received from every State and Territory
in Australia.
The local combination of Albion Park bowlers - brothers
Scott, Ryan and Andrew Johnston, Cameron Diversi and Bryce
Harper - broke the 5 Person Team record in the Boys “D”
division with a 2279 score. The record had previously been
set by Queensland’s ‘Mt Warren Wonders’ during the 1999
Junior Nationals.
The record also tumbled in the Mixed 5 Person Teams “D”
division event, when the “Aspley Mixed” group of Patrick
Rahilly, Amy-Lee Kroehnert, Ben Johns, Nadia Beninca and
Curtis Foot overtook the previous 2027 benchmark set by
fellow Queensland team “The Assassins” in July 2000 with
a new high of 2054.
